Parents & Community - Playgroup

Glengarry Primary School Playgroup

Playgroup is a fun, play based session for children aged 2-4 years. It provides parents with an opportunity to watch their child gain new skills, make friends, learn through play and interact with others in a fun and nurturing environment.

Weekly activities include sight, sound, touch, taste, smell, imagination and interactive play.  The activities are aimed at educating children in fine and gross motor skill development. Most of these things can be seen as just fun, however many of the tasks have been chosen for a reason from play-dough, pegging and lacing, drawing, painting, craft, puzzles, blocks and role-play.  Outdoor play activities include an obstacle course, sandpit and play equipment.

Our session runs on Wednesdays during school term from 9-11am. Each session is coordinated to ensure activities are planned, set out and ready to use. Sessions also include a weekly mat time that involves children getting active and participating as a whole group, learning nursery rhymes, singing songs, dancing and listening to stories.

Many of our children go on to school at Glengarry Primary School assisting with separation anxiety by being at a familiar location and moving on with their friends.

Payment is pay as you go at $90 per term. We ask that each family brings a piece of fruit per child which is included in a shared morning tea.
